Since my mom died in February, I’m trying to get used to weekends again. For the last five years, I’ve spent nearly every weekend in Port St. Lucie, visiting my mom in her care facility and doing her laundry. (Don’t even get me started on care facilities and laundry.)
Now it’s hard to figure out what to do with my spare time. So I just started volunteering with the American Parkinson Disease Association in Florida. I’ve inquired about DJ classes. (I used to work for WVFI, The Voice of the Fighting Irish, in college and loved it. This will be a different sort of DJing but I love music!) I’ve been trying to go on long walks and rediscover West Palm Beach. And of course, I’ve been dedicating more time to this West Palm Beach blog.
Such has been my life these last few moths–grief is no joke–that I totally missed that Crema Gourmet had opened in Clematis. This was supposed to be Ya Mas, which I was excited about. But I had seen at some point that the Ya Mas signs came down and Crema went up.

I had no experience with Crema Gourmet until this morning so I did not know what to expect. You go inside and place your order at the register. The menu is expansive but it’s just breakfast and lunch. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and an iced coffee. They give you a number and you take your seat. The wait seemed long — I think it was about 20 minutes. But then my breakfast sandwich arrived and it was HUGE. Much bigger than I expected. It was also quite good. The baguette in particular — even though it was industrial bread — was pretty tasty with just enough crunch. Service was friendly and nice. They proactively offered to bring me more hot sauce when they saw the hot sauce at my table was empty.
On a Saturday morning, the place was busy. This makes me happy as Yolk next door was barely ever busy.
Let’s hope they are successful and not another victim of the Clematis Street retail environment.
The Verdict: I hope you’ve enjoyed my review of Crema Gourmet in West Palm Beach. I’ll be back for lunch!
