About Me

by Krista

Hello and welcome to KristaHQ. My name is — surprise! — Krista and I live in West Palm Beach Florida, although I was born and raised in the great state of New York. (Long Island, specifically.) You may have run into me on my other blog, Passport Delicious, which I launched way back in 2004 when I first moved to London, England.

I started my West Palm Beach blog KristaHQ in April 2018 for a bunch of kinda unrelated reasons:

  1. I like to write things.
  2. I was debating going plastic free for a short period of time and I wanted to write about it. This is the “Aha! Moment” that made me set up this site. (Update: I did try and I made some changes but it’s really hard. Plastic is everywhere. This is a work in progress.)
  3. There are a lot of things I want to write about — like my mom’s Parkinson’s Disease  and elder care in general– that don’t fit into Passport Delicious, where I have historically written about restaurants and my travels. Update: Sadly, my mom lost her 30-year battle with Parkinson’s in February of 2025.
  4. As I get older, I want to stay hip to the trends and the dying art of blogging helps me do that.
  5. I knew I would be moving back to the US from London in July of 2019 and wanted a space to talk about this move. I’ve also found that blogging is a great way to meet people so I thought I could make some new friend in West Palm Beach.
  6. Maybe I will make some money doing this. (Maybe.)

These days, I work in education consulting. I also sell luxury travel on the side. Prior to this, I spent 18 years in the financial services industry in Chicago and London. (Something I want to write about — RETIREMENT INVESTING.) My current goals in life  are as follows:

  • Visit 100 countries. My original goal was to get that done by 2024 but the pandemic and my mom’s health got in the way. I have visited 78 so far.
  • Retire early, which requires a lot of saving and smart investing.

Three philosophies I live by: Always be on time. Book that flight. And you only need one space after a period, I swear.

Thanks for visiting my West Palm Beach blog!

Ethics Policy

(Borrowed from Seth Godin.)

On occasion, I’m delighted to accept products and samples, just to be nice. I have to tell you, though, that there’s no correlation between mentioning stuff and whether or not someone sent it to me. Forewarned! I would change this policy immediately if the Korean Tourism Board were to send me to South Korea for two weeks.

My goal in creating this blog is to have an outlet for a lot of things in my head and keep me hip to the trends. I’m an amateur, not a professional.

If any of this changes, I promise to let you know.
